New Star Wars: The Force Awakens TV spot highlights Kylo Ren and the First Order

Another Star Wars: The Force Awakens spot has just been released, but this time around, the focus is almost entirely on Kylo Ren and the First Order.

The trailer opens up with the Imperial March cue that goes hand-in-hand with Darth Vader, opening the door to questions over just how big a role Vader's presence will play in the film. We've seen his burned mask in previous TV spots, but the influence he has over Kylo Ren may be much larger than previously assumed.

We also get a brief glimpse into the supernatural powers Kylo Ren has through his interaction with the kidnapped Poe Dameron. In the scene, Dameron is trying to keep his wits about him, but starts screaming in pain as Kylo Ren lifts his hand in front of Dameron's face and inflicts some kind of unseen force upon him. The entire scene is reminiscent of Vader's powers as a Sith lord and his ability to exert pain upon someone just by lifting his hand and using the power within himself.

Most interesting is the conversation that's heard off-screen between Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke (played by Andy Serkis). The question that we've heard countless times before in previous trailers "There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?," finally gets an answer and a little bit more context. We can now hear Kylo Ren answer with a simple "yes" before Snoke adds, "Even you have never faced such a test. It is time."

The rest of the footage isn't overly new, but there is a moment where Finn is talking to someone and tries to warn them that they haven't seen what he has and that they all need to run. It's safe to assume that he's talking about his time in the First Order as a stormtrooper, but it's also possible he could be directly addressing Kylo Ren and his abilities.

Director J.J. Abrams said in a previous interview that Kylo Ren is a far more vicious and deranged villain than Darth Vader ever was. It makes sense, then, that Finn would be as terrified as he appears to be of the man and his massive army.

This is the 10th official TV spot to be released for the movie, but with more than three weeks until the film comes out, expect to see a few more.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters Dec. 18.
