Earlier this morning say the debut of the first X-Men: Apocalypse trailer and, depending on your mileage, it was either completely amazing or totally underwhelming. Well, if you needed a little more evidence before deciding what exactly you think of X-Men: Apocalypse, we now have the full poster, which gives you a bigger look at Oscar Isaac as the titular villain.

You can count me as one of the people that was left wanting a little more from the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer, and not just because it was mostly the same footage we saw at Comic-Con. Doesn’t it seem weird that you have an Oscar-nominated actor (Michael Fassbender) starring as one of the best Marvel villains (Magneto) and you’ve reduced him to a henchman? But, I digress.

For now, let’s turn our attention to the X-Men: Apocalypse poster, which you can see below. It’s, uh…well, it’s Apocalypse crushing a human skull. And looking not all that concerned about it either. Maybe he’s having an “Alas, poor Yorick” moment? I don’t know, but if we’re sold that Apocalypse is the most powerful mutant that ever existed, we could see a better use of his powers than just crushing a dried up skull. This looks like the beginning of a motion poster that never actually animates.

The recent era of X-Men movies (First Class and Days of Future Past) have been pretty solid movies marred by pretty bad marketing campaigns. I mean, remember this poster? So, perhaps this is just a misstep on the way to what is an otherwise entertaining movie. With this cast assembled (Isaac, Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, etc.), you’d certainly hope so.

X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
